At my wife's family reunion, we gave her sisters, their daughters and daughters-in-law necklaces made from her mother's silverware.  The pattern was a beautiful rose design that I had never seen before and made a very nice pendant.  The gift was a very big hit and the pleasure we received in giving them was really nice.  One of the great granddaughters has already told her mom that she would like the necklace handed down to her someday.  A simple piece of silverware is now an heirloom.
